Description: | PROGRAM: The Endowments and Prizes Section of the Canada Council for the Arts administers over 70 annual prizes, fellowships and awards to Canadian artists and scholars for their contributions to the arts, humanities and sciences in Canada. Prizes include the Walter Carsen Prize for Excellence in the Performing Arts, the Virginia Parker Prize, Jean-Marie Beaudet Award in Orchestra Conducting, the Joseph S. Stauffer Prizes, Jules Léger Prize for New Chamber Music, Sylva Gelber Foundation Award, Victor Martyn Lynch-Staunton Awards, and the Robert Fleming Prize. Competitions include the CBC Young Composers Competition, Eckhardt-Gramatté National Music Competition, and the Musical Instrument Bank, (which assists gifted classical musicians in the development and enhancement of a professional solo or chamber music career through the term loan of an exceptional instrument). ELIGIBILITY: Most awards are restricted to Canadian citizens/residents; many are limited to artists under the age of 30.
