Facility: | Fort Borst Historic Fort and Borst Home |
Description: | Fort Borst (1856-1856) - The blockhouse was erected by Oregon Volunteers, Captain Francis Goff and five soldiers, for protection of the Chehalis river crossing and for storage of supplies needed by troops engaged in the Washington Indian Wars. At Fort Borst Park there is a tour once a year through the house also. You have to contact the city of Centralia for the different dates each year. But you can see the fort and the house and peek into the windows. Read the signs and markers etc. Such an adventure to see this historic REAL fort! |
