Provider: | Kids' Science Challenge
Summary: | Age Range: 8-12 (Designed for Grades 3-6, but has cool stuff all ages will enjoy! Plus you'll find a link to free K-12 Science Lessons!) Michelle Tyler sent a message to me on Facebook recommending "Kids' Science Challenge" website, sponsored by Pulse of the Planet and the National Science Foundation. You MUST visit this site!
Description: | It's the home of a nationwide science competition for 3rd to 6th graders who were asked to submit experiments and problems for real scientists and engineers to solve that related to four fields of scientific inquiry or engineering including: *Flavor Science *Water Quality *Skateboard Engineering *The Search for Life in Outer Space The entries judged to be the most original won the Grand Prize for that field - a visit with the scientist or engineer to work with them to solve the question or problem proposed. How cool is that? At the website you can watch videos of the winners working with their mentors. You can also explore some of the fun entries that were not selected by the judges. Additionally, you'll find educational resources, biographies of the scientists, games, activities, and downloadable science projects related to the four Scientific Fields to enhance your FAMILY'S science education experience. The whole family? That's right, Kids' Science Challenge sincerely believes "that adult participation in the learning experience is the single most important key to educational success." They've figured out and support what homeschoolers have known all along. :) But wait, there's more! In collaboration with PBS, they created lesson plans for K-12 classroom use for each of the Scientific Fields. The lesson plans are aligned to National Science Education Standards. They are free and available at: www.pulseplanet.com/educatorresources It's the home of a nationwide science competition for 3rd to 6th graders who were asked to submit experiments and problems for real scientists and engineers to solve that related to four fields of scientific inquiry or engineering including : *Flavor Science *Water Quality *Skateboard Engineering *The Search for Life in Outer Space The entries judged to be the most original won the Grand Prize for that field - a visit with the scientist or engineer to work with them to solve the question or problem proposed.
