Description:

The Louisiana State Capitol is a National Historic Landmark. Each state and the year it was accepted into the Union is engraved on each of the steps leading to the Capital. Once inside, you will learn about Louisiana's early governors and Governor Huey P. Long. The building depicts scenes from Louisiana and US history. Bronze doors lead to the Senate and House of Representative Chambers. Detailing in the chambers are everywhere, including the ceilings. When the Senate and House are in session you can learn first hand what happens to a bill. The observation deck on the 27th floor enables you to view the amazing grounds and Capital garden where Gov. Long is buried.

Looking for adventure, social studies and history education? This place has got it! The Louisiana State capital building is the tallest in the county. The observation deck on the top boasts incredible views of the Red Stick city. The Mississippi River view is fantastic and while you're up there, don't forget to check out LSU Tiger Stadium to the North. It is truly a beautifully maintained, real working building, with the mysterious "Governor-Only" elevator.
