Description: | Discover the buildings magnificent history, ornate art, classical architecture and function as the seat of the state's government. During the legislative session, tours focus on the democratic process and legislative structure. You are also welcome to tour the Capitol on your own. Self-guided tour booklets are available at the information desk on the first floor of the Capitol. Also purchase the new book Montana's State Capitol: The People's House. Lavishly illustrated with both historic and modern photographs, the book provides information on the history, architecture, art, and sculpture of the Capitol Building. Hours: | The Capitol is open for self-guided tours Monday-Saturday 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Summer Hours: May 1 though September 30 Monday through Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Sundays 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 pm. Closed Holidays. Tours given on the hour. Winter Hours: October 1 through December 31 and January 1 through April 30 in a non-Legislative Session year (even numbered years) Saturdays, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. No tours Sundays through Fridays and Holidays. January 1 through April 30 - Legislative Session (odd numbered years) Monday through Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Closed Sundays and Holidays. |
