Description: | The town of Pullman was built in 1880 to house the workers in George Pullman's Palace Car Factory. In 1894, a strike at the factory started the Labor Movement in the US. The Hotel Florence, showpiece of the town, and the old Factory Site are now IL State Historic Sites, and tours of both can be arranged. Walk in the footsteps of history! |
