 | | Mary Beth, Co-op Member | We have enjoyed many visits to WAM (short for the Worcester Art Museum). This is not a large art museum by metropolitan standards but has representative sculpture and painting as well as other art forms from all periods and most geographic areas. It actually excels in the area of Roman and Greek mosaics and classical art, but I have been quite impressed with its permanent collection of Renaissance and Impressionist art as well.
I cannot neglect to mention another aspect of the museum. It is a real member of the community and has alot of special events for patrons of all ages, with music and poetry reading among other entertainment types. My kids have taken the homeschool art classes there and have been pleased, but now are more attracted to the focused art classes for specific age groups and interests. There are also ALOT of adult classes to choose from, both ongoing and one day workshops. The classes almost always visit the galleries as inspiration.
I have never had the chance to eat at the cafe but have heard it is terrific. |
